Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Federal HR Assistant to join our team. He/she plays a crucial role in supporting human resources functions for our federal customer. The Federal HR Assistant will perform administrative, clerical, and HR-specific tasks, all in compliance with federal regulations and policies.
Responsibilities
- Assists a team of HC Specialists in providing personnel processing support services to managers and employees.
- Examines, codes, and processes official personnel actions for Agency personnel. This includes verifying previous service, including military service, and computes SCDs, as well as researching a variety of regulatory guides to make definitive determinations on a wide range of technical issues, including creditable service for probationary periods, career tenure, and leave category determinations.
- Ensures that Contract performance meets OPM regulations and best practices, referenced and applied as appropriate to include the Guide to Processing Personnel Records.
- Reviews incoming requests for personnel actions (SF-52) types of action, maintains adherence to requirements, completeness and accuracy of requests, and supporting documents.
- Effectively codes SF-52s in accordance with the rules and regulations noted in the OPM’s Guide to Personnel actions.
- Effectively codes actions for input into the National Finance Center’s (NFC) automated payroll/ personnel systems and reviews and follows-up on error listings and computer edits from data input to ensure personnel actions are submitted and input on a timely basis.
- Codes and processes a variety of personnel actions in an automated HR payroll/personnel system (EmpowHR).
- Uses SF-52 tracker to input information.
- Administers and manages employees’ electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) in compliance with OPM’s Guide to Personnel Records Management and Guide to Data Standards.
- Requests SF-75s as needed and files information into eOPF.
- Establishes, maintains, and closes-out required records.
Skills & Abilities
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Able to pass a comprehensive background investigation and to obtain and/or maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- ust have experience working within NFC and knowledge and expertise with coding and processing SF-52s.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications and organizational skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Pay: $26.14 - $28.37 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
