SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for proper operation of nuclear medicine equipment in performing various complex nuclear cardiology and general nuclear medicine studies. Prepare, calibrate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and/or pharmaceuticals, as directed by Nuclear Cardiologist or Radiologist, who is an authorized user on Medworks Radioactive Material License (RML). Prepare patients for all testing procedures. Monitor patient’s electrocardiogram (ECG) and vital signs before, during, and after stress testing, as directed by physician. Observe radiation safety and OSHA guidelines. Maintain and perform quality control assurance procedures in accordance with Medworks RML and Medworks policy and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct job duties in accordance with Medworks policies and procedures.
Administer medications, including pharmacologic stress agents under the supervision of physician, according to manufacturer’s guidelines and established Medworks policy and procedures. Also, monitor patients for possible reactions to side effects and administer treatment, as per physician order.
Ensure proper operation of equipment and performance of all nuclear studies.
Perform computer acquisition and processing of complex nuclear data and images for interpretation by nuclear cardiologists in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and established Medworks policy and procedure.
Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures in accordance with Medworks RML, manufacturer’s guidelines, and Medworks policy and procedure.
Order, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and/or pharmaceuticals, as per physician order.
Perform stress testing for physician including monitoring of patient’s ECG and vital signs before, during, and after stress testing, as directed by physician.
Properly complete patient superbill with all appropriate CPT codes and corresponding ICD codes.
Ensure that all patient studies are reviewed for accuracy and quality before assigning studies to physician
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform work-related duties as directed. The job duties and responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist include, but are not limited to, the previously described areas of duty and responsibility.
Adhere to compliance policies and procedures. Report any incident that appears unusual/deficient to department supervisor/manager or the compliance department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduate of an approved school of nuclear medicine and registered or registry-eligible as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Skills:

Good communication skills required. Basic and typing skills required.

Experience:

Minimum of six months’ experience in Nuclear Medicine Department.

The following experience needed or should be completed within one year of employee’s hire date:*

Completion of Basic 12-Lead ECG and arrhythmia recognition program;*
BCLS certification;

Physical/Mental Demands:

Varied activities including standing, sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push or pull mobile equipment on casters up to 500 pounds, including but not limited to ultrasound equipment, nuclear equipment, patient stretchers and beds, stress equipment and emergency “crash cart”. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, writing instruments, PC, fax, and medical equipment including stethoscope, scales, and blood pressure cuff, etc.

Bachelor's or Associate

Required experience:

Nuclear Medicine Technology: 1 year preferred

Required license or certification:

NMTCB or ARRT certified

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
