Who We Are:
The Fitch unit is a 45 bed, Acute Care Medical Unit, with approximately 120 employees. The average patient census is 40 patients and specialties focusing on sepsis, respiratory, diabetes, GI, oncology, end of life, and some surgical. The Fitch unit provides an outstanding supportive environment and advanced training for its staff. The unit also offers a relaxation room for its employees to decompress and relief stress. The nursing staff is supported by a charge RN and team lead, whose focus is to make this the best place to give and receive care. Many years ago, our staff came up with our unit’s own mission and vision. The mission is “Everyone Helps Everyone” and the vision is “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”. Our staff is very involved with quality, improving workflows, and providing input for meaningful change. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my thoughts on what an amazing unit the Fitch unit is!
About the Job:
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, delivers care to patients and families with needs ranging from basic to complex utilizing the nursing process. Creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families. Practices in a manner consistent with the Elliot Hospital Interprofessional Practice model; the ANA’s Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, and the Nursing Code of Ethics; and relevant specialty standards of practice.
What You’ll Do:
- Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
- Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning, and communicates that plan of care to patient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
- Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identifies areas for improvement.
- Demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.
Who You Are:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ASN Required with active enrolled in BSN enrollment in a program (signed BSN commitment form needed). BSN Preferred.
- Graduate Nurse status is designated for those individuals who hold temporary licensure to practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This status is maintained from date of hire until the issuance of a permanent license by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.
- Ability to obtain BCLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment.
- Nurses are expected to pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three years of entering the specialty practice.
- Ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems.
