Overview:
The Cardiac Catheterization Lab Specialist is responsible for providing direct patient care in the Cardiac Cath lab, Peripheral Vascular Lab, Cath Lab Holding Room, and the Electrophysiology Lab, performing and functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary team. In addition, this role is expected to function and provide high quality, safe, culturally competent cost-effective patient care in all areas of operations by means of assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention/follow up. Responsibilities:
Assesses patients' medical history and current condition to prepare them for cardiac catheterization procedures.
Prepares specialized equipment and monitors patients during procedures, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes.
Maintains a safe environment, adheres to universal precautions, and utilizes personal protective equipment to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
Collaborates with the healthcare team, including physicians and technicians, to support smooth and successful procedures.
Provides patient education and support before, during, and after cardiac cath lab procedures.
Adheres to professional advancement program requirements, engages in ongoing education, and mentors others to promote professional growth and development to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field, leading to improved patient care and clinical expertise.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 - 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience, or 1 - 2 years of Radiology Technical experience, or 2 years Paramedic experience.
Preferred: Cardiac specialty experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: BLS (CPR) | AHA Health Care Provider BLS. North Carolina Board of Nursing License, RCIS for Cath Lab, RCES or IBHRE for EP, CCRN or RCIS for holding room
