JOB SUMMARY
To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability.
This is a Diesel Technician Lead position.
$7,500 Sign On Bonus ( for new hires only ) with a 2nd or 3rd shift differential
SHIFT: This is either a 2nd shift: 2pm - 10:30 pm Sun - Thurs. (+$2.00 Shift Differential )
OR 3rd shift 10:30pm to 7:00am Sun - Thurs. (+$3.00 Shift Differential )
The manager can work with you on which shift best fits your needs .
PAY: Up to $40.00 per hour ( based on experience )
$600 ( Annual ) BOOT and TOOL allowances

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs supervisory roles when the fleet supervisors or manager is not accessible.
- Mentor, teach and share expertise with the fleet technician I and II to aid in their development to positions of greater responsibility.
- Expressed desire to advance to management positions of greater authority.
- Demonstrates clear and concise decision-making skills related to fleet repair and availability of fleet for operations teams.
- Provides clear communication and reporting to the fleet supervisor or manager on a daily basis.
- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles within planned time tolerances.
- Maximize the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of the fleet.
- Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections in accordance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatory agencies. (Includes all state-required inspections and frequencies).
- Address all driver vehicle inspection report write ups timely, and efficiently.
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to transport refrigeration systems, engines, transmissions and clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition system, exhaust systems (including regeneration systems), intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC and Refrigeration systems and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Follow procedures including documenting all work performed on work order using complaint, cause, and correction format.
- Learn and develop efficiency in Sysco computer programs
- Operates competently within designated parameters and communicates upward before exceeding those parameters.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Heavy Duty truck technical training
- High school diploma required
- Current and valid driver's license ( CDL Preferred, Not Required )
Experience
- 2-year school and 4 years of experience or
- 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair
- 1-year experience in a leadership role ( preferred )
Certifications, Licenses and/or Registrations
- Annual Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Brake Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (Preferred, Not Required)
- Mobile Refrigeration (EPA 608) Type II Certification preferred.
- Mobile Air Conditioning (EPA 609) Certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEM's and component manufacturers
- The technician must provide own tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco) necessary to perform all maintenance repair and diagnostics
Professional Skills
- Expert knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and components
- Expert knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on all equipment
- Expert knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of refrigeration systems (
- Expert knowledge and skill in Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair
- Moderate knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
- Moderate computer skills and knowledge
- Expert knowledge of all DOT (FMCSA) regulations
- Moderate knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
- Moderate knowledge of environmental regulations
Physical Demands
