Executive Director - Connecticut Port Authority
The Connecticut Port Authority is seeking an Executive Director to lead the development and growth of the state’s maritime economy. This role involves working closely with the Board of Directors to shape and implement a strategic vision for Connecticut’s ports and harbors, enhancing their contribution to the state’s economic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vision and Strategy: Collaborate with the Board to create and advance a maritime strategy linked to transportation and economic development.
- Asset Management: Preserve and improve water-dependent business assets, enhancing intermodal competitiveness and infrastructure access.
- Representation: Represent Connecticut in regional and national forums on port-related issues.
- Management: Oversee the Port Authority’s internal policies, procedures, and staff development.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain open communication with stakeholders, including government branches, local communities, and regional constituencies.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in port operations and the maritime industry, including public/private sector collaboration.
- Education: College degree (Master’s preferred) in relevant fields such as economics, business, or logistics.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of maritime logistics, port and harbor infrastructure, and federal grant programs for maritime infrastructure.
- Skills: Strong project management, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Network: Established contacts among transportation providers and ports nationwide.
The successful candidate should be prepared to travel domestically and either reside in or be willing to relocate to Connecticut.
