Job Overview
The Assistant, Merchandise Planning will assist in developing and executing merchandise strategies to achieve financial targets. They are responsible for analyzing sales data and trends for forecasting, developing seasonal merchandise plans and assortment strategies and monitoring inventory levels and sell- through rates.
What You Will Do
- Analyze historical sales data, current trends, and market information to forecast future sales and demand.
- Assist in developing seasonal merchandise plans and assortment strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including buying, marketing, and inventory management.
- Monitor inventory levels and sell-through rates, identifying risks and opportunities to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
- Generate and maintain regular reports on sales performance, inventory metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against targets.
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities for growth.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of merchandise financial plans, including sales, margin, and inventory targets.
- Support ad-hoc analysis and projects as needed.
Skills You Will Need
Communication Skills: Strong communication, storytelling, and presentation skills to effectively convey information to stakeholders.
Independence and Adaptability: Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
Demand Forecasting and Optimization: Proficiency in demand forecasting and inventory optimization techniques.
Hold and Flow Optimization: Experience in optimizing and executing hold and flow strategies for inventory management.
Risk Management: Ability to manage risk optimization and service levels effectively.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills, including trend and pattern recognition, and the ability to solve problems efficiently.
Strategic Planning: Proficiency in effectively planning and executing strategies to achieve objectives.
Issue Recognition and Resolution: Capability to recognize issues and address them directly, ensuring smooth operations.

- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of financial or inventory management experience.
