Are you an experienced teacher or facilitator who enjoys leading dynamic, engaging workshops? Do you value creating space for participants to develop tangible conflict resolution tools and practice transferrable communication skills? This position offers experienced trainers and highly interactive communicators the opportunity to work with a variety of training clients as part of a small and passionate team. If you have a background in education, curriculum design, and/or adult learning, that’s even better. While previous experience with conflict resolution and mediation is preferred, it is not required to be successful in this position.
In addition to serving as Chicago’s community mediation center and providing free mediation services to people in conflict, The Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR) also offers respected and robust training programs and opportunities. CCR works across industries with diverse clients, and we want to grow our ability to provide our existing programs. There is also the opportunity to innovate new trainings. We are a highly collaborative team at a mission-driven organization, and value dialogue, feedback, and creating opportunities for growth. A successful candidate will significantly expand our team’s capacity and our ability to equip more people with skills to approach and manage conflict. All revenue from our trainings supports CCR’s ongoing commitment to providing free mediation services.
This position requires well-developed problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility. Many of our clients reach out for training during periods of significant conflict, and the success of our workshops lies in our ability to customize the content to fit a particular context. Some workshop participants are more curious than others, and it is important that the person in this position be able to offer a variety of engagement strategies. Additionally, since we offer in-person and online workshops, the ability to handle technological requirements of program execution (e.g. Zoom, PowerPoint, etc.) is crucial.
Additional Information
- Qualifications: Meaningful facilitation experience. Superb written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work with diverse populations. Fluency with MS Office software (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Suite, Zoom, Salesforce. Experience with mediation or conflict resolution, including formal training, is preferred, although not required to be successful in this position.
- Work Schedule: Ability to work evening and weekend hours to meet program needs; willingness to work remotely online, in our Chicago office in the Loop, and on-site at various training locations throughout the Chicago area.
