United Concrete Products, Inc.’s Building Group in Wallingford, CT. is currently seeking a Shop Manager to join our team. The Building Group Division specializes in prefabricated precast buildings that can house, pump stations, generators, outdoor restrooms, and custom facilities. The Shop Manager will report directly to the General Manager and coordinate all shop activities, as well as work with the Project Manager(s) for each project under construction in our facility. Candidates will have good analytical, communication, and computer skills and will operate with the highest ethical standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years of progressive responsibility in project management of commercial and municipal projects.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards (Construction).
- Excellent verbal, problem solving, and written communication skills, speaks clearly and persuasively, listens to employees, and addresses issues.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Managing of all Shop Team Members (Mechanical, Electrical, Finish, Carpentry and Plumbing)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for reviewing project plans, specifications, approved submittal packages and detailed scope of work for assigned projects.
- Ability to assess feasibility and buildability of each project and design.
- Oversee construction projects from beginning to closeout.
- Highly organized with the ability to plan and multitask to meet deadlines.
- Perform routine inspections of all projects in the shop, prior to delivery/installation for schedule adherence.
- Conduct weekly inspections of projects to verify project scope and specifications, company standards and design are being adhered to.
- Ability to make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines.
- Managing resources from ordering inventory materials and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available for work to progress.
- Implement safety and quality guidelines as necessary.
- Arranging for regular maintenance on equipment as required.
- Mentor and train shop personnel.
- Manager foreman and their duties to ensure all have resources and information to preform their tasks effectively and efficient.
- Provide performance evaluations of shop personnel.
TRAVEL AND HOURS OF WORK:
- This position requires the individual to be physically present at our main facility in Wallingford, CT. for majority of the time, Monday through Friday (Minimum of 45 hours a week – some Saturdays as required)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGRISTATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar discipline
- If no degree, proven experience as a site superintendent in building construction or civil construction required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Including by not limited to):
- Able to climb ladders to inspect project(s).
- Able to bend, crouch, twist and pull, as necessary.
- Able to work at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Regular able to work in all types of weather.
