Job Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor at Schiff Food Products Co., Inc. is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shipping and receiving processes within the facility. This role requires strict adherence to FDA FSMA and SQF codes relevant to production activities. The supervisor will manage the warehouse operations, coordinate the pickers and container unloading crew, and ensure the efficient and accurate handling of all outgoing shipments. The position demands experience in forklift operations, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and a solid understanding of OSHA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all shipping and receiving operations, ensuring compliance with FDA FSMA and SQF codes.
- Manage warehouse activities, including the coordination of pickers and the incoming container unloading crew.
- Supervise the preparation and handling of all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Implement and maintain OEE initiatives to improve the efficiency of warehouse operations.
- Ensure that all warehouse personnel are trained in and adhere to OSHA safety standards, including proper use of forklifts and other equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of the warehouse to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the smooth flow of materials and products in and out of the warehouse.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate record-keeping of all materials received and shipped.
- Lead daily huddles with the warehouse team to communicate goals, updates, and safety reminders.
- Train and mentor warehouse staff, ensuring that all team members are knowledgeable about proper procedures and safety practices.
- Report any operational issues, safety concerns, or inefficiencies to the Warehouse Manager/Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Competency in using applications and tablets for QA/QC tasks.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly and properly convey information.
- Experience in quality control, food safety, and regulatory compliance within a food production environment.
- Familiarity with SQF, FDA FSMA, HACCP, and GMP standards.
- Certified in forklift and scissor lift operation.
- Knowledge of maintenance tool and shop equipment safety.
- Proficient in OSHA LOTO procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Experience in supervising production floor activities in a food processing environment.
- Strong understanding of FDA FSMA and SQF codes relevant to food production.
- Ability to compile and maintain accurate production records.
- Experience with conducting inspections and verifying compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, and operating equipment for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to bend, walk, crawl, and move around the warehouse and storage areas.
