Summary/Objective
The Assistant Controller directly oversees and develops the Wholesale and Retail Fuel Acounting team, and reports directly to the Enterprise Corporate Controller.
This position is responsible for all financial aspects of the wholesale and retail fuel distribution business, interfacing with the Retail Accounting department regarding intercompany fuel purchases, management of the Fuel Management/Billing Systems, and providing ad hoc financial analysis to management as needed.
Additionally, this role includes real estate-related duties such as managing financial transactions for property acquisitions and leases, as well as any ad-hoc requests from executive management.
Essential Functions
Wholesale Fuel Accounting: Oversight: Oversee the activities of the wholesale team to ensure the accurate and concise month-end closing, reconciling of discrepancies on financial management reports, timely processing of financial data, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash transaction management.
Retail Fuel Accounting: Supervise intercompany fuel purchases and ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation between wholesale and retail departments, as well as leading rebate reconciliation and collection efforts
Accounts Receivable Management: Responsible for the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components, including billings, cash receipts application, funding service management (which includes weekly funding reports and customer service), and check statistic management.
Systems and Controls: Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the company's value.
Work in parallel with Enterprise Controller in Fuel Smart software, assisting with system setup and modifications for sales and billing transactions, inventory tracking, and customer receivables. Develop and execute processes to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections.
Ad Hoc Financial Analysis: Respond to CFO as requested on variety of special projects and reports
Real Estate Financial Management: Manage financial transactions related to property acquisitions, leases, and other real estate activities. Ensure accurate and timely processing of real estate-related financial data.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8 years of hands-on managerial accounting experience.
- Must have expert/advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Education and Experience
- CPA certification and/or public accounting experience is highly preferred
- 10 years of hands-on managerial accounting experience
- Experience with large automated accounting systems a plus (Great Plains, Oracle, Sage Intact)
- Experience in the petroleum industry a plus.
- Experience with real estate financial transactions a plus and/or experience with Argus/Yardi
