The American Association for Community Psychiatry (AACP) seeks a full-time Executive Director to join our non-profit, member-driven, psychiatric association. General Description:

Performs advanced senior level managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations, financial planning, advocacy, membership support and daily business activities. Works with the Board of Directors to oversee strategic plans, goals and objectives and develop policies, procedures and guidelines. Grows organizational partnerships and expands membership. Coordinates and evaluates activities including but not limited to Human Resources, fund raising, advocacy, key program operations, member support, financial and or business functions. Supervises the work of other contracted staff and works under supervision of the Board of Directors, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This is a full-time independent contractor role for approximately 40 hours per week. The position is fully remote, offering lots of flexibility and independence. The AACP is a national membership organization, and the successful candidate should have the ability to accommodate meeting times convenient for various time zones as needed. Standard working hours of 9-5 are expected, with occasional evening and weekend meetings and occasional travel required. It is noted that for the right candidate, some flexibility in working days / hours can be exercised.

Examples of Work to Be Performed:

Leads the development of policies and procedures to enhance AACP’s operational capacity and effectiveness.
Oversees key negotiations and partnerships with existing association, state and county-level partners in support of the association’s mission, membership and its keystone products.
Oversees the financial health of the organization, and grows other revenue sources, including grants.
In collaboration with relevant board members and committees, establishes an advocacy agenda for the organization and grows partnerships with key stakeholders.
In collaboration with relevant AACP committees, Grows AACP’s keystone programs and establishes metrics for measuring their success.
Provides supervision and support for AACP contracted staff.
Serves as the primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public.
In partnership with relevant committees, leads marketing and other communication efforts.
Oversees board, membership and committee meetings.
Oversees preparation of the annual budget and facilitates periodic audits and compliance activities for the organization.
Executes other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.

Required Education/Skills/Abilities:

Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the organization’s mission and vision.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with government agencies, other behavioral health organizations, community leaders, and the general public.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Firsthand knowledge of the behavioral health field and of nonprofit operations.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Master’s degree in related field or five years comparable work experience. MSW, LMHC, MPH, MPA, MBA or similar degree is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

Firsthand knowledge of operations of membership-based professional associations.
Work experience in the behavioral health field.
Experience with grant writing and/or fundraising.
Three years of supervisory and leadership experience.
Three years of experience with nonprofit administration.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary, along with a flexible, remote work environment. Salary up to $120,000commensurate with experience. FLSA status: Exempt.
